Top Hill Basketball Club Celebrates Successful Completion of 2nd Annual “Reach One Teach One – Building Bridges to Success” Summer Basketball Camp
Anguilla, July 17, 2025 – Top Hill Basketball Club proudly announces the successful conclusion of the 2nd annual “Reach One Teach One – Building Bridges to Success” Summer Basketball Camp, held from July 7th to 11th, 2025 at both the North Hill Basketball Court and the Four Seasons Resort’s premier court. The event drew more than 90 young campers, a significant rise from its inaugural year, thereby highlighting the community’s increasing enthusiasm and support for basketball development on the island.
This year’s camp broke new ground by introducing a literacy component and a crime prevention and intervention element, with the latter being delivered by officers from the Royal Anguilla Police Force. The combination of sport, education, and mentorship offered campers a holistic experience, underscoring the camp’s mission to empower youth both on and off the court.
The camp was led by Head of Sporting Operations at Reach One Teach One and Founder of A Pharoah’s Touch, Coach Najmuddin Ahmad, alongside coaches Roger Farrington and Terrell Theophile, whose expertise and
enthusiasm inspired all participants.
Older athletes were also given the unique opportunity to take on assistant coaching duties during morning sessions, working with the coaches and campers aged six to fifteen. Evening sessions featured a unique collaboration involving a number of staffers from Four Seasons, some of the resorts’ guests, and older campers aged sixteen to twenty-two, further integrating community participation and intergenerational mentorship.
A key highlight of this year’s camp is the continued pathway to opportunity: another two campers secured partial scholarships to study and play basketball at U.S. high schools, bringing the total to four since the camp began just two years ago.
Mrs. Evette Harrigan, President of Top Hill Basketball Club, expressed immense gratitude for the collective effort that brought the camp to life, stating, “We are deeply thankful to our many generous sponsors, volunteers,
the tireless leadership of Mr. Beresford Mack, Director of Reach One Teach One, and the dedication of Coach Najmuddin Ahmad and his team. Their commitment has not only raised the level of our camp but has truly
transformed lives, giving young Anguillians real opportunities to excel both academically and as athletes.”
With its growing reach, innovative programming, and strong partnerships, the “Reach One Teach One – Building Bridges to Success” camp continues to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for Anguilla’s youths, building bridges to educational, athletic, and lifelong success.
Mr. Beresford Mack, Director of Reach One Teach One, remarked, “This partnership is a testament to the power of collaboration in youth development. With the support we’ve received, we can provide an even better experience for our campers and coaches. Together, we are building bridges to success for young people in Anguilla”.
Coach Najmuddin Ahmad added, “Every year, I am inspired by the talent and spirit of our campers. Seeing them take on new challenges, and grow both on and off the court, motivates our entire coaching team to keep raising the bar. The new literacy and crime prevention elements have added real depth to our camp, showing our young people that we care about their futures in every sense.”
