FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Anguilla – May 17, 2025

The Anguilla Football Association announces the major signing of one of its standout players to the premier men’s pre-professional soccer league in North America. Antonio
Fleming, who plays for the Anguilla Senior Men’s Soccer Team, has signed a professional contract with the Staten Island Monarchs of USL League Two for the upcoming season, playing as a right or left winger. Fleming was scouted by Monarchs Head Coach Nicholas Goddard during the 2025 Reach One Teach One – Building Bridges to Success Easter Soccer Recruitment camp organised by the Anguilla Football Association. His technical skill, speed, and versatility on the wing impresed the Monarchs’ coach, leading to this exciting opportunity.
The Staten Island Monarchs, formerly known as the Springfield Athletic Sporting Club, recently relocated to New York and now play their home matches at Wagner College. The Monarchs are committed to developing top talent and making a positive impact in the New York metropolitan soccer community, building on a legacy of competitive play and community engagement.
Coach Nicholas Goddard expressed his enthusiasm for Fleming’s signing “Antonio showed tremendous potential during our scouting trip to Anguilla. His work ethic, pace, and ability to take on defenders make him a perfect fit for our system. We’re excited to welcome him to Staten Island and look forward to seeing his impact on the field this season.”
Beresford Mack, CEO of Reach One Teach One, praised Fleming’s achievement and the broader mission of the program saying that “Antonio’s journey from Anguilla to USL League Two is exactly the kind of success story we strive for. Our camps are about opening doors for talented players and giving them the exposure they need to reach the next level. We are incredibly proud of Antonio and grateful to the Monarchs for recognizing his talent.”
Girdon Connor, President of the Anguilla Football Association, highlighted the significance of this milestone “Antonio’s signing is a proud moment for Anguilla football. It demonstrates the quality of players we are developing and the importance of international partnerships.
We wish him all the best as he embarks on this new chapter and look forward to seeing him represent Anguilla on the professional stage.”
Fleming’s signing marks a significant step for Anguilla’s football and underscores the growing opportunities available to the island’s players through international recruitment and development programs.
